What vaccinations has my puppy had? Do you worm? Do you have a health guarantee?
Health Guarantee:
The health and nutrition of both our dogs and our puppies is a priority. Every puppy that comes from Texas Rose has a 1 year health guarantee on hips, elbows and other select genetic issues. Specifics of the health guarantee are outlined in our contract signed/initialed by each buyer/family. Each buyer is to read this portion of the contract for specific information on the health guarantee. They are thoroughly examined by our family veterinarian and have been found to be free of any abnormalities and disease.
Your puppy will come to you having had his or her first round of vaccinations and a complete health check. This visit is completed at 7 weeks old, not 6, to ensure that the mothers milk antibodies are no longer active in the puppies body as to ensure that the 1st vaccination is more effective.
We worm our puppies every 2 weeks, starting at 2 weeks old, so your puppy has been wormed 4 times prior to coming home with you. They also have an individual fecal done at their 7 week check up to ensure they are clear of parasites prior to coming home with you.
Also, since we live in the country, with various unknown animals potentially moving across our property and many parasites being found in the soil, we do not let the puppies out to roam in the grass and soil prior to coming to you. If they go outside it is in a fenced area, on a piece of turf carpet, to ensure we limit any exposure of bacteria and parasites in puppies prior to them coming home with you.
Is it important to feed my golden a quality food?
Absolutely. It is well accepted that our own diets and exercise impact our health greatly. Why would we expect any different for our canines? It has been found that improper exercise, nutrition and environment of our pets have as much of an impact on their hips and elbows as any genetic factors, some say more. This means, you have to do your part. Find something quality to feed your golden, it does make a difference. All of our puppies are sent home with puppy cultures age appropriate exercise guidelines and we strongly recommend you do your best to adhere to them for the proper growth and development of your golden.
Do you have a spay/neuter contract? When do I need to spay/neuter my golden?
No, I do not.
Experts are now suggesting that there is a strong link between early spay and cancer. Research also suggests it can have life threatening effects on the dogs heart. It is best to leave them in tact until they have fully developed at 2 years old, but at least leaving them in tact until 12 months of age is highly recommended.
